Mark McCabe, founder and coach of SKIPnRope, (see www.skipnrope.com) will conduct skipping workshops in our school for all classes on Mon 25th and Tues 26th Feb. These classes will take place during school hours. On Monday Junior Infants, 1st, 2nd, 4th and Mr Ryan’s 5th class will be coached while the workshops for the remaining classes i.e. Senior Infants, 3rd, 6th and Mr Arthur’s 5th class will take place on Tuesday. Please ensure that your son wears his tracksuit and runners on the appropriate day.
The cost of the workshop is €2 per pupil. There will also be some skipping ropes for sale if you wish to purchase one at a cost of €6 for a child or adult rope (various lengths) and €10 for a family (long) rope.
As part of the games module of our P.E. programme the boys from 1st to 6th classes will avail of tennis coaching this term. David Black, tennis coach at Laytown & Bettystown Tennis Club, will give tennis lessons on a Friday for 6 sessions commencing on Friday Sept 14th and finishing on Friday Oct 19th for GROUP 1 which is Ms O’Brien’s, Ms Smith’s, Ms Colleran's, Mr Lynch's, Ms Mc Bride's, Ms Egan's and Mr Arthur’s class.
Tennis coaching for GROUP 2 i.e. Ms Callan’s, Ms Lohan’s, Mr Duffy’s,
Mr Ryan’s, Ms Mullen’s and Ms Gerrard’s class will commence on Friday, 9th November.
The coaching sessions will take place on the school grounds (during school hours) and all equipment is provided. However, a pupil may bring in his own tennis racquet if he so wishes. The cost for the 6 weeks is €10. Parents will receive an e-payment link in advance of the commencement of each block of lessons.
The boys will need to wear their tracksuits and runners on these Fridays.
Many pupils from 4th, 5th & 6th class have joined our chess club. Coached by Pat Scanlan, the chess club meets after school every Monday from 3 to 4pm. The chess league has now commenced. Best of luck to all participants! We wonder which pupil's name will be engraved on the chess plaque at the finish of the league.

Cooney Cup Team Champions 2018 - Our Champs in Páirc Tailteann
Our Gaelic team have had an incredibly busy year with early morning training for lots of matches in both the Cumann na mBunscol and Cooney Cup leagues. Pipped at the post by eventual winners Kells, the brave boys fought back to beat Whitecross NS in Páirc Táilteann and win the very prestigious Cooney Cup title for 2018!
RUGBY - Tag-Rugby
Two squads of twelve boys, one representing 5th class and one representing 6th, travelled to Shamrock Lodge in Drogheda on Wed Sept 28th to participate in a tag rugby blitz organised by Boyne RFC.
For several boys this was their first time to don the school jersey and they took great pride in representing our school. The games were played in a very sporting manner and we emerged victorious in all six of our games.
Sports Day for classes Junior Infants to 2nd will take place on the school grounds on Thursday, June 21st .
